Bay of Plenty

It wouldn't be right if we had a Blog about Tauranga without the Bay of Plenty would it? So here is the official page representing the Bay of Plenty, the region which Tauranga is situated in. Tauranga  currently has a population of 114,789 which accounts for about 40% of the total population of the Bay of Plenty(267,000). The Bay of Plenty is expected to increase by a third in the next 50 years. As massive growth is set to come in the near future for the Bay of Plenty, let alone New Zealand, major infrastructural and economic changes are taking place.

White Island, New Zealand's only active volcano off the coast of the Bay of Plenty.

Whakatane is the largest town in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, with just under 18,000 inhabitants. Whakatane has the largest number of sunshine hours almost every year when compared to the rest of New Zealand. Whakatane Airport also has daily flights to White Island, New Zealand's only active Volcano, as seen to your right.
